Death of the Russian Champion Mr. Roman Dmitriev Print E-mail

FILA was sorry to hear the sad news concerning the passing away of the 61 year old Russian athlete Mr. Roman Dmitriev on 11th February. This athlete was one of the greatest wrestlers of the 20th Century, Champion of the 20th Olympic Games in Munich in 1972, silver prize-winner of the 21st Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976, World and European Champion, six times champion of the USSR, honored Master of Sports of the USSR, honored Coach of the USSR, National Deputy of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), representative of the Sakha State Assembly in the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federations, holder of many honourable orders and signs. The Yakutia and the Russian sports community and FILA wish to convey its sympathy to his family for the lost of a very talented wrestler.
